Jim Baker was raised by wolves on the
Steppes of Brooklyn. Omens filled the sky and sheep shook with fear;
all the world was oblivious...
Jim Baker became addicted to Aikido in 1974
as a student of Yamada Shihan in New York. He was chief instructor
at Aikido of Park Slope in Brooklyn, NY, for 13 years and is the
founder and Dojocho of the Aikido Society of Memphis and Aikido of
Norfolk. He holds the rank of 5th Dan and the teaching rank of
Shidoin from the US Aikido Federation and the Aikikai Foundation in
Tokyo. His technique has been called "spiffing".
So come on over for a rip-snorting, knife
sharpening, bull wrestling, butt kicking, hip swivelling, lip
sneering, spittin', stompin', swearin', casual yet elegant Aikido
experience.
Jun Akiyama of Aikiweb.com says:
"Baker
sensei's class was a great balance of technical precision, wisdom,
and weird animal noises."
